Wash Day featuring Aunt Jackie’s Curls and Coils

There are tons and tons of natural hair products on the market! And let me just say this, I am a certified product junkie! I know I’m not the only one. Recently, I got my hands on the full collection of Aunt Jackie’s natural hair products. When I recently tried their Ice Curls Curling Jelly, I was prompted to explore more of Aunt Jackie’s haircare products, I was so impressed with the results, that when I saw the full collection of Aunt Jackie’s products at Marshall’s I had to get my hands on them.

I have kinky, coily, type- 4 natural hair and I consider my hair to be low porosity and medium density. Today I will be reviewing the:

  • Oh So clean! Moisturizing Shampoo
  • In Control Conditioner
  • Quench! Leave-in Conditioner
  • Curl La La Curling Custard
  • Don’t Shrink Curling Gel

Oh So Clean! Shampoo

This shampoo claims to be a moisturizing and softening shampoo. It is supposed to aid with moisturizing chronically dry hair and make detangling easy. Prior to washing my hair with this shampoo, I decided to do a pre-poo treatment because my hair was very dry. The pre-poo definitely brought some moisture back into my dry kinky – coily hair. I used the shampoo right after and I felt that this shampoo definitely made my hair and scalp feel squeaky clean. It really lived up to its name. I didn’t find it to be a moisturizing shampoo, rather I found it to be more of a clarifying shampoo.

In Control Conditioner

My hair felt a little dry after shampooing, so I was hoping this conditioner would live up to its claims. It claims to be a “anti-poof” moisturizing and softening conditioner. It is enriched with shea butter and olive oil. The directions stated to leave it in for 10 minutes with a cap, but I used the conditioner as my deep conditioner and left it in for 30 minutes and I applied heat using my Hot Head. I was very impressed by the amount of moisture this conditioner added back to my hair. It had great slip and was very moisturizing.

Quench! Leave-In

This leave-in is described as moisture intensive. Aunt Jackie’s claims it is a deep moisture therapy for parched tresses. I applied the leave-in after I rinsed out the conditioner. I found that the claims of this products matched the results. This leave-in has a creamy liquid consistency. It is very runny. It is also enriched with shea butter and olive oil. Detangling was a breeze with this product and I enjoyed using it.

Curl La La Curling Custard

After I washed my hair, I decided to do a “wash-n-go” style. I used Aunt Jackie’s Curl La La as one of the stylers. First, I applied the custard and topped it off with the Don’t Shrink Curling Gel. The custard feels very creamy, and let me just say I love the smell of all the products. They pretty much have the same smell. This custard is very moisturizing and left my hair soft. It defined my type 4 curls and gave it a nice amount of shine!

Don’t Shrink Curling Gel

Like I said before, I used the gel on top of the curling custard. This gel defined my curls even more and left my curls elongated. My hair remained shiny and I was very pleased with the final result. Most gels I use are not very moisturizing, but this gel changed the game! It was very moisturizing!

I shared a quick video demoing all of the products. Watch video here.

All of the products are sulfate-free and paraben-free. There are no mineral oils or petrolatum. These products do contain glycerin. All in all I enjoyed using the Aunt Jackie’s Curls & Coils haircare products.
