by | Jul 23, 2020 | Natural Hair

Every once in awhile my hair needs a little extra protein. I usually do protein treatments before I do a braided protective style. Protein treatments are conditioning treatments that adds protein to the cuticle layerof your hair strands. This treatment strengthens your hair, making it a lot stronger and less likely to get damaged. It’s important to maintain an adequate protein-moisture balance in your natural hair.

ApHogee 2-Step Protein Treatment

The protein treatment that I have been using in my hair for the past 6 years is the ApHogee 2- Step Protein Treatment. This treatment claims to rebuild hair structure for 6 weeks. It is not necessary to add protein treatments to your haircare regimen frequently, so I usually buy the sample packet. I love that the treatment comes with a protein and a moisturizer to make sure there is a balance of protein and moisture. Too much protein can make your hair very brittle and dry. After using this treatment the overall appearance a feel of my is improved

ApHogee

According to sallys.com, this unique treatment is formulated with magnesium and modified proteins which fuse into the hair with the application of heat. The result is that breakage is drastically reduced. During the process, ApHogee treatment hardens into the hair, dramatic evidence that something special is occurring. Restores lost moisture and hair becomes more manageable, flexible and strong. Breakage and split ends stop while hair looks and feels better.

Some signs that your hair needs a protein treatment include:

  • Excessive shedding
  • Mushy when wet
  • Curls lose elasticity
  • Dull hair
  • Brittle hair
  • Heat damage
