I don’t know if you are like me, but half the time when I’m taking lifestyle photos, I don’t know what to do with my hands. I don’t know whether to pose, laugh, or look away. I am a content creator, I am constantly behind or in front of the camera, so this makes a great prop for my lifestyle content. You can use this prop in many different ways. You can actually capture yourself snapping a picture or just holding it. Both ways are aesthetically pleasing and match my brand’s message.

Laptop

This prop goes perfectly with my branding message. I brand myself as a blogger/content creator. This tech tool is essential to my brand and can spice up any lifestyle photo.

Adding some greenery to your photos can really turn a good photo into great. Plants add life to my photos. A plant as a prop is so versatile. You can touch it, smell it, or just simply have it in the background.

Coffee Mug

A coffee mug works great for lifestyle photos. Whether you’re a tea or coffee drinker, it brings a personal or professional touch to your photo. This prop can be used in several different ways. It can sit on the counter, in your hands, or up to your mouth. I love using white mugs with black lettering because it is neutral and can blend in any lifestyle photo.

Book

Another great prop is a book. With this prop you can use it to tell a story. You could showcase the book you are reading for that month, or even suggest to your audience that they should read this book. I especially love using books with nice, clean covers.

Cell Phone

One thing that’s for sure is almost everyone can relate to having their phone in their hand. This prop is very natural to use in a photo. It is such a simple prop and doesn’t take away from the lifestyle photo.

Coffee Cup

This prop is very similar to having a coffee mug, but instead it’s using a coffee cup. I especially love to go to my local coffee shop and grab a cup of coffee for my shoot. Coffee is a regular part of my day and adds a simple message to your picture without taking away from the real message.

Pro Tip: Save your previously purchased coffee cup and use it at various photoshoots

Baby or Kids

Lastly, you should definitely utilize your kids if you have any. This has been one of my most liked photos on Instagram. Using my little one as a prop can be challenging, but well worth it. She brings cuteness and a softer side to my content, plus everyone loves cute little babies!

I hope you find these easy prop ideas helpful for your next lifestyle photoshoot. Using props has made my content go from good to great!
