Wow, it is my 3 year blogger-versary, a.k.a. blogger anniversary. Let’s just say this has been quite a journey! Am I exactly where I want to be? No, but have I evolved and learned some things? ABSOLUTELY! Being in this blogger space has taught me so much about myself as a writer and an entrepreneur. I am so happy I kicked the imposter syndrome to the curb and started blogging!
As I grow as a blogger, I’ve found that every bloggersā journey is unique and the worst thing I can do is compare my journey to other bloggers. In this space it is my hope to continue to become a better blogger year after year. As I reflect on these last 3 years of blogging, I will share with you the ways I have grown as a blogger and the things I want to get better at.
Networking More
When I first started blogging, I didn’t know the importance of networking. I went into this blogging journey by myself. Initially, I enrolled into a blogging course but I really didn’t socialize or network with the other participants. I interacted with some of my social media followers, but never formed any relationships outside of just commenting on their posts. It wasn’t until a fellow participant of the blogging course reached out to me and asked me to be her accountability partner. At the time, we were both into natural hair and had a similar following. Honestly, her reaching out to me made me feel like I wasn’t alone on this journey. It also made reaching out to other bloggers feel less intimidating.
In this blogging journey, it’s best not to do it alone. I always advise new bloggers to find their tribe! Your tribe is not only there to show support, but they are also there to help keep you motivated during those trying times — because there will be many times when you feel unmotivated! I also will add, that I have gotten several opportunities to work with brands because of recommendations from people in my tribe.
Being Entrepreneurial
Being a blogger has also made me step out of my comfort zone and monetize my personal brand. When I first started blogging, money was not a motivator. However, as I became more familiar in this space, I saw how I could use my knowledge and creativity to make money by doing different things I am passionate about! If you are just starting out on this journey, don’t expect overnight success. When starting a blog you need to be passionate about what you’re writing about, because frankly, money may not come until years after you start blogging.
After two years of blogging, I launched my first eBook, to help other aspiring bloggers get started and make their blogging journey successful. I am still grateful and surprised when I get sales! Just the other day, I was talking to an accountability partner, and she advised me that she had purchased my book before we became accountability partners. I still get taken a back when I receive sales and it definitely boosts my confidence. Whatever I put out, I want to make sure my followers and supporters are benefiting from it.
Not only did I launch an eBook, but I also expanded into branding. When I first started my blog, I took a liking into designing my website. I started practicing design and decided to start designing logos, brand marks, web pages, landing pages, and social media templates. I know that if I didn’t start blogging, then there is a high possibility that I would have missed this talent of mine! Meaghan Lindsey Designs is now up and running! I also started offering coaching to other aspiring content creators and influencers.

Balancing and Time Management
Balancing motherhood, having a full-time job and being an entrepreneur has its many challenges. Over the years, I must say that I have learned to have a healthy balance of blogging and my life. I take breaks when needed without feeling guilty. Creator burnout is real, hence why in May this is my first blog post of the year. Growing many platforms is challenging and I feel going into year 3, I focused a lot on monetizing my personal brand, which as a result has led my writing to be placed on the back burner. This year, one of my long term goals is getting better at balancing my several platforms. One thing I know for sure is that I am getting back to blogging so subscribe to my email list to be updated. More blog posts are on the way!!!

My goals
Promoting. Now that I made it to year 3 of my blogging journey there are still many things that I want to accomplish. For one, I haven’t quite mastered the art of promoting my content apologetically. Many successful bloggers preach the 80/20 rule. You should spend 20% of your time creating the content and the other 80% promoting it.
Consistency. I participated in a blog post consistency challenge back in 2020. For that challenge I wrote daily blog posts for a month. It was A LOT- but I did it! During that challenge I really had to get organized. I feel like I have been slacking in the organization department. My goal is to work on creating a system, where I can be consistent, but not get burnt out.
Be More Personable. When I first created my platform, it was based on natural hair. I knew that I was more than my natural hair, so instead of naming my platform naturallyfabme– like my other platforms at the time, I named my website after my name. It was my desire to create lifestyle content and share my life journey, specifically my journey as a single mother. I haven’t shared too many post about my personal journey and this year I plan to change that!
Now that I am on year 3 of my blogging journey, I am excited for where this journey will take me! Thank you to everyone that has read, commented, and shared my blog content!
Cheers to 3 years and to many, many more!
